Bill Luff, Board
Bill has spent more than 30 years working in government and multi-national business roles, holding several senior executive positions with British Petroleum (BP) in London, including Chief Executive of BP Shipping, Head of Strategy, Planning and Control, and Head of Human Resources. Prior to his current role as CEO of Canterbury Development Corporation (CDC), Bill was the Chief Executive of Tasman Energy Limited.
Dr Nigel Johnson, Board
Nigel is an internationally recognised expert in the management of textile research and commercialisation, in the past holding a number of senior positions at the Australian based Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) and the NZ-based WRONZ and Canesis Network Ltd. In his current role as Director of Research & Innovation at the University of Canterbury, Nigel’s unit is responsible for providing services for the facilitation and support of every stage of research and innovation development.
Dr Peter John, Board
Peter has been a Director of Cii since it was founded in March 2001. Since 2005 he has been Director Research and Commercialisation at Lincoln University. Prior to this, beginning in 1993 he was Chief Executive Officer at Lincoln Ventures Limited (LVL), a research, development and consulting company owned by Lincoln University. At LVL he managed the commercialisation of a number of hardware and software technologies and specialist fee-for-service businesses.
John Walley, Board
John has a wide experience in globally competitive research, development, manufacturing and distribution companies, in the marine, electronics and software sectors. He is a Chartered Engineer, Fellow of the Institute of Professional Engineers NZ, Member of the Institute of Electrical Engineers UK, Fellow of the New Zealand Institute of Management and Fellow of the Institute of Quality Assurance UK. John also has a number of investments in start-up technology companies.
Murray Bain, Board
Murray joined the Cii board in February 2002. He is Dean for the Faculty of Commerce at Christchurch Polytechnic Institute of Technology (CPIT) and as such is responsible for the School of Business, Food and Hospitality, C4FREE, School of Computing and Tourism. Previously he as had been Head of School – Business at both Otago Polytechnic and CPIT.
Steve Wilson, Board
Steve has 32 years experience as a CEO of both public and private companies. He is currently the Managing Director of Talbot Plastics, a company established in 1972 to provide a custom injection moulding and mould making service to the manufacturing industry. He is a Fellow of the New Zealand Institute of Management. Steve is a director of a number of technology companies and a former director of Adrenalin Ventures, a Canterbury based private equity fund.
Phil Holliday (Chair), Board
Phil is MD of Holliday Corporation, a business growth and angel investment company. Phil is an industry figurehead who achieved success through the multi-million dollar sale of his electronics and wireless company Holliday Group Ltd to iTouch PLC in the UK.
